Title Case Converter
Capitalise a headline the way style guides expect, with short words kept lowercase.
Convert Text to Title Case
Title Case is how most English headlines, book titles and page titles are written: the important words start with a capital, and the small linking words do not. Capitalising every word looks amateurish ("The Lord Of The Rings"), and so does forgetting a subtitle after a colon. This page opens the Case Converter with Title Case first.
The rules applied
| Rule | Example |
|---|---|
| Capitalise the first and last word | What It Is For |
| Keep short function words lowercase | The Lord of the Rings |
| Capitalise the first word after a colon | Dune: The Desert Planet |
| Leave deliberate capitals alone | Why NASA Uses JavaScript |
Title Case or Sentence case?
Many publications and most user-interface guidelines now prefer Sentence case, where only the first word and proper nouns are capitalised. It reads more naturally and avoids the question of which words to capitalise. Both appear in the results, so you can compare them side by side and copy whichever your style uses.
