HTML Entity Decoder
Turn text full of entity codes back into the characters they stand for.
Decode HTML Entities Online
RSS feeds, database exports, API responses and scraped pages often contain text with entities such as &, " or ’ instead of the characters themselves. This page opens the HTML Entity Encoder in decoding mode with a sample, using your browser's own HTML parser so the result matches what a web page would show.
Common entities
| Entity | Character |
|---|---|
| Non-breaking space |
& | & |
’ or ’ | Right single quote, used as an apostrophe |
— | Em dash |
€ | Euro sign |
Double-escaped text
Text that went through two escaping steps shows & or <. The first decode turns it into & and <; decode once more to reach the original. The best fix is upstream: escape once, as late as possible, usually in the template that outputs the text.
