Convert HTML to Markdown Online
Moving content from a website, a CMS or a rich-text editor into Git-based documentation, a wiki or a static site generator usually means rewriting it as Markdown. This page is the Markdown converter set to HTML → Markdown, powered by the open-source Turndown library with GitHub Flavored Markdown support.
How elements come out
| HTML | Markdown |
|---|---|
<h2>Setup</h2> | ## Setup |
<img src="logo.png" alt="Logo"> | |

<del>old</del> | ~~old~~ |
Cleaning up after conversion
- Relative links such as
/docskeep their path; make them absolute if the Markdown will live on another site. - Images keep their address; copy the image files if the original site may go away.
- Tables without a header row, or with merged cells, have no Markdown form, so they are kept as HTML, which most Markdown renderers display as it is.
