AVIF files are small and look great on the web, but plenty of software still cannot open them: design tools, older editors, presentation programs and many upload forms. If the image is a photo and has no transparent areas, AVIF to JPG gives a far smaller file.
Keeping the PNG manageable
Because PNG never discards data, a large AVIF photo can turn into a very heavy PNG. Use the resize row, for example a maximum width of 1920 pixels, to bring it down before saving. For flat graphics such as logos the PNG usually stays small anyway.
Limits
- Up to 30 files at a time, 25 MB each.
- An animated AVIF becomes one still frame.
- HDR images are converted to standard range, as your browser shows them.
- Camera metadata is not copied into the PNG.
