Convert Text to Uppercase

Retyping a paragraph just to change its case is tedious. Paste it here and copy the capitalised version, or go the other way when something was typed with Caps Lock on. This page opens the Case Converter with UPPER CASE first; lower case, Title Case and Sentence case are right below it.

When capitals help, and when they hurt

  • Good: short labels, headings in a design that calls for them, acronyms, product codes and constants in code.
  • Bad: long paragraphs. Text in capitals is slower to read, because words lose their shape, and in emails and chat it reads as shouting.
  • In web design, prefer CSS text-transform: uppercase for headings, so the underlying text stays normal for search engines and screen readers.

Fixing text typed with Caps Lock

Converting to lower case loses every capital, including the ones at the start of sentences and in names. Sentence case is usually the better fix: it lowercases the text and capitalises the first letter of each sentence, leaving only names and acronyms to correct by hand.
